A flat price up front, whether you need full movers or just the muscle

Plenty of Quad Cities movers put you on an hourly rate and let the clock run up the bill. Alex does it the other way: you get one flat price up front for the whole job, whether that is a full-service move or just loading help, so the number never climbs while the crew works.

Tell us about it

Run Alex through the place, the stairs and the parking, whether you need full movers or just labor to load a truck or POD, and the dates you have in mind, by phone, text, or a quick video walk-through.

Everything we handle

What we do

Built for the Quad Cities

Old river-town homes, third-floor walk-ups, two states, and the muscle to handle them

A Quad Cities move has its own quirks: tall old homes on the Rock Island and Davenport bluffs, narrow century-old staircases, apartment walk-ups near the colleges, and jobs that cross the Mississippi between Illinois and Iowa. Alex and the crew plan around every one of them, and we bring the muscle for the heavy stuff.

Old-home ready

💪

Labor when you need it

Loading a rental truck, a POD, or a trailer, or just muscling one heavy piece, book the crew for as much or as little as you want.

Reviews from both sides of the river

I was very pleased with the service I received, and they were not only prompt, they arrived early! I got a very quick response to my inquiry, and they were great with communication and scheduling the move. Alex and Dave were my movers and they were excellent: polite, very courteous, and very careful with my belongings that they moved. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for moving services!

Alex's movers are mature, experienced truck drivers and movers. Dave and Jacob arrived on time, and were courteous and customer-pleasing. They were safety-minded for personnel, property, and furniture. Every step spoke of their pre-thought, techniques, and training. They were very organized and skilled, and took great care of us, our furniture, and our property. I will definitely share your information with my associates. Thank you so much!

Alex and his team completed my out-of-state move. I am very satisfied with his services, and would definitely work with him again in the future. They have all the equipment and a good-size moving truck. Alex and his partner did their best to help with a very complex piece of furniture that did not fit through the door, and they completed the move on time despite a busy downtown pickup. I strongly recommend Alex for both local and out-of-state moves.
NNataliya H.Verified customer · Moline, IL★★★★★
Alex owns and operates an extremely professional, top-notch moving company that gives every customer a friendly, smooth, and high-end moving experience. Highly recommend!
AAlex M.Verified customer · Davenport, IA★★★★★
I highly recommend Alex's Moving and Labor! These guys were quick, professional, and efficient, and did not leave a scratch on the furniture or the apartment. They even gave me a good price to pick up new furniture from a store that would not deliver. Friendly, great to talk to, an overall 10 out of 10.
AAshley B.Verified customer · Coal Valley, IL★★★★★

Good to know

Quad Cities moving FAQ

How is the flat price kept firm?

Alex looks at what you are actually moving, or how much labor you need, and how tough the access is, then gives you one price and holds to it. As long as the job matches what you told us, it lands on that exact flat price, with no meter and no rounding up at the end.

Are the movers Alex's crew or hired out?

Our own, every time. Alex keeps a trained, background-checked crew right here in Rock Island and runs every job himself, so no broker takes a cut and no stranger walks into your home.

Can you move through Quad Cities winters and summers?

All year. Through a hard Midwest January we salt the steps and load fast so nothing sits out in the cold; in the humid summer we start early and keep a steady pace. Your date holds whether it is an ice storm or a muggy July afternoon by the river.

Do you move pianos and heavy items?

Yes, and it is already in your flat price. Pianos, gun safes, gym equipment, and the other heavy, awkward pieces ride on the right board with proper straps and padding, muscled out by a crew that has moved plenty of them.

Do you do labor-only, or load a POD or rental truck?

We do, and it is half of what we do, it is right in our name. Book Alex's crew just for the muscle: we will load or unload your rental truck, POD, or trailer, or move a few heavy pieces, packed tight and padded, all for one flat price.

Can you handle downtown and apartment building COIs?

Yes. Plenty of downtown Davenport and Moline buildings and the college-area apartments ask for a Certificate of Insurance and a booked elevator or dock time. Send us the building rules and we file the COI and reserve the window ahead.

Do you handle old bluff homes and two-state moves?

All the time. The tall old bluff-top homes in Rock Island and Davenport with their narrow century-old stairs, the college-area walk-ups, and moves that cross the Mississippi between Illinois and Iowa are everyday work for us, planned and priced ahead.

How much notice should I give?

A week or two out suits most jobs, and month-ends and college move weeks fill up soonest. If the crew has an opening we will still take a short-notice or next-day job, even labor-only, so it never hurts to give Alex a call.

Do you take a deposit?

Just a small refundable hold to lock in your crew and your date, and nothing else. The rest is due once the job is done, and the estimate is always free.

How do you deal with the river bridges and Quad Cities traffic?

We plan around it. The crew times the drive against I-74, I-280, and River Drive, works the Centennial and I-74 bridge crossings around rush hour, and the window we gave you still holds.

Who we are

Locally owned, Rock Island-based

Alex built Alex’s Moving and Labor around a simple idea: give Quad Cities folks a fair flat price, show up and work hard, and let people book a full move or just the labor, whatever they actually need. He runs his own crew out of Rock Island and still works the jobs and answers the phone himself, on both sides of the river.
